Checking Clinics
All players, male and female, are required to attend a checking clinic in both years of U13 (2013, 2012) and first year of U15 (2011). This includes players playing in non-checking leagues, male and female players.
Goalies are encouraged to attend but not required to take the checking clinic.
While these are called "checking" clinics, players will learn proper positioning and angling, stick checks, and develop contact confidence. This progression ends with the body checking component. Player safety and respect for opposing players is also discussed, while emphasizing the importance of playing and staying within the rules of the game.
First-year U15 players playing at the AA and AAA level will not be permitted to play in any games, including pre-season exhibition games, until they have attended a checking clinic.
