CMHA thanks Irving for $5000 gear donation

2014-05-02

Thanks to Irving Oil

The 23rd Annual Irving Oil Challenge Cup (Atlantic Canada’s Bantam AAA Championship) was recently held in Mount Pearl and as part of this event Irving Oil had a media campaign.  Included in the campaign was a Facebook Contest called, “Gear Up to WIN”.

Those who participated had to “dress the hockey player” and for each time the game was played, Irving Oil donated $5 towards purchasing hockey equipment for minor hockey players (up to $20,000).

We are pleased to advise that the campaign was a tremendous success and Irving will be donating $5,000 worth of hockey equipment to 4 minor hockey associations across Atlantic Canada.  Charlottetown Minor Hockey Association will be receiving $5,000 worth of hockey equipment to dress players for the 2014-2015 hockey season.

Our Used/New Gear program has become a tremendous success, assisting over 100 families in the past season. We have given Irving Oil an equipment inventory and they will help supplement the pieces that are rarely donated, such as, Hockey Gloves, Elbow Pads and Junior Throat Guards. We would prefer not to distribute helmets as they have an expiry date.

For those needing equipment for Spring Hockey, Summer Camps or Next Fall, please contact George Halliwell at 902 626 7026, he will be distributing equipment weekly at CARI during the off-season. Our bin will remain at CARI, please continue to support the program.
