Vax Pass and COVID-19 Protocols for CMHA Events
2021-10-05Please refer to the COVID-19 page on the website for updates.
The CMHA has received guidance from Charlottetown facilities (Bell Aliant Centre, Simmons, Cody Banks) regarding the Vax Pass, which is effective today. It is imperative that all participants and spectators are familiar with these rules. Each user group is responsible for tasking volunteers with Vax Pass screening and contact tracing where applicable based on these protocols. The rink is not the place for debate on these protocols. We ask that every person maintains respect for the rules and the volunteers who enforce them.
Below are the protocols current as of October 5th, 2021. Please refer to the COVID-19 page on the CMHA website for the most current COVID-19 information.
Below are the protocols current as of October 5th, 2021. Please refer to the COVID-19 page on the CMHA website for the most current COVID-19 information.
- All arena user groups with participants 19 years of age and older must be fully vaccinated to enter a Charlottetown rink (Bell Aliant Centre, Simmons, Cody Banks).
- User groups [individual teams/ice times] will be responsible for completing prescreening, contact tracing, and Vax Pass verification for the on-ice cohort and the spectator cohort[s].
- Until the QR code app is released, the Vax Pass is actually just proof of vaccination (you can get this here) and a valid government photo ID.
- The PEI Pass is not considered acceptable proof of vaccination.
- Contact tracing is now only required when the Vax Pass is not required, e.g., on-ice cohorts for participants 18 and under.
- Participants (players) 18 years old and younger are not required to be fully vaccinated.
- Anyone not participating on the ice (e.g., volunteer, administrator, coach, spectator) 12 years of age or older must be fully vaccinated to enter a facility.
- Vax Pass for the On-Ice Cohort:
- Participants (players) aged 18 or younger do not need to provide proof of Vax Pass, but must be contact traced.
- Anyone 19+ (coaches, team staff, etc.) must have a Vax Pass and a valid government photo ID verified by the team's contact tracer (person at the door).
- If your participants/players are mixed ages with anyone over the age of 18 all participants must be vaccinated and show proof.
- Vax Pass for Spectators:
- All spectators over the age of 12 must be vaccinated and show the Vax Pass prior to entry.
- Anyone 19+ must show valid government photo ID along with the Vax Pass.
- Any person 19 years of age or older who is not fully vaccinated or has not been given a medical exemption will not be allowed in the arena. There is no exception to this rule. Please respect the policy put forth by the CPHO and do not attempt to enter either arena without being fully vaccinated. There will be zero tolerance for anyone attempting to enter the arenas without being fully vaccinated. Volunteers and/or arena staff will not engage in discussions/arguments regarding vaccination status. If you cannot provide proof that you are fully vaccinated or proof of a medical exemption then you are not allowed in the arenas. The policy is very clear and leaves no room for interpretation.
- As stressed by CPHO, we do not expect anyone to get into a physical altercation with someone refusing to comply. If there is a combative individual demanding to get into your ice time please report them to your organization immediately. The organization can then report them to the CPHO and to the facility. If the individuals are abusive and/or repeat offenders then a No Trespass Order will be issued for the remainder of the season.
