CMHA & Hockey PEI Update on Today's COVID News

2020-11-28

Update on U18 A
CPHO will be contacting anyone who may have been in contact with the positive confirmed case. Therefore, at the Direction of Hockey PEI, we ask that U18 A teams suspend all on-ice activity until further notice. This means games and practices. We ask that team officials, players, and parents monitor for symptoms and attend a drop-in testing site if anyone experiences any COVID-like symptoms.

We are better to err on the side of caution until we have more information from HPEI and CPHO.

General Statement
We continue to ask that everyone monitors for COVID-19 symptoms and attends a drop-in testing site if experiencing any COVID-like symptoms.

Hockey PEI Statement
Hockey PEI is aware of today’s announcement made by the Province’s Chief Public Health Officer concerning two new active cases of COVID-19 confirmed this morning on Prince Edward Island.

The positive case related to the male individual who attends Charlottetown Rural High School is directly related to Hockey PEI sanctioned activities.

This individual does play hockey with the Central Attack U18 “A” Team #2. All close contacts of this individual such as teammates, team staff, and officials are being contacted by the Chief Public Health Office (CPHO) to arrange for testing and be given directions for self-isolation for 14-days.

Any other individuals who require testing in regards to Hockey related activities will be contacted by the CPHO. Once the investigation has been completed, the CPHO will release more information.

Hockey PEI will continue to monitor this situation closely as it develops and will work to assist the CPHO as needed. We will also stay in contact with both Charlottetown Minor Hockey Association and Sherwood Parkdale Rural Minor Hockey Association who make up the Central Attack branded teams.

We would like to remind all our members who believe they may have been exposed to this case that: Hockey related or not, the CPHO will be in contact with you should you need to be tested.

As always, we ask all our members to continue to pre-screen before arriving at the rink, monitor for symptoms closely, and to go get tested if you believe to be experiencing any COVID-19 like symptoms.
