CMHA Officiating Program

CMHA Team Managers/Coaches:

Welcome as you prepare for the upcoming 2020-21 Hockey Season, following is some information on the CMHA Officiating Program which I hope will help you as you plan for your season.

Booking Games - when games are entered into the Goal line system I receive an email notification and then I am able to assign officials for your home games, games must be entered into Goal line in order for me to do so, a phone call or email will not suffice as all scheduling of officials for CMHA games are assigned using the Goal line system.

NOTE: Please contact me directly either to arrange for officials to work any intersquad or exhibition games prior to the start of your regular season.

The same happens when you cancel or reschedule a game, I will receive an email notification as well any officials whom were assigned to that game will automatically be notified as well.

I don’t mind getting an email or text but it is not necessary.

We strive to ensure your games are covered and officials assigned using the minimum officiating requirements as set forth by HPEI.

There are times (especially in the younger divisions of play) that an officials misses an assignment, this does not occur often within the CMHA but may, officials who miss assignments are subject to our Officiating Code of Discipline and are held accountable however there is not much we can do at game time to correct these situations on those rare instances when it may occur.

Standard of Play – Within the CMHA officiating Program we emphasize the games are to be played “Safe & Fair” and strongly encourage officials to penalize infractions when they occur, especially any infraction which is dangerous, undisciplined or liberties are taken. We encourage and support officials to officiate games within the CMHA in a manner that makes the ice surface a safe environment, coaches and managers are encouraged to corporately with officials and vice versa when it comes to the safety of players and respect for all game participants.

Concerns – If you have a legitimate concern about the actions of an official I would encourage you to contact me to discuss, if you are looking for a more formal process to have such concerns addressed then I will accept an email outlining your areas of concern on an officials actions. Your best recourse is to contact me, do not chase an official down after a game, anytime that occurs or you or your team officials act in a disrespectful manner towards our CMHA Officials you will have lost your opportunity to express your concerns.

We will work with you to ensure the games our officiated in a “Safe & Fair” manner and therefore a good environment for our young players.

We have a good staff within the CMHA and continue to work to development officials for the CMHA with the hopes that they will contribute to the continued success of our Programs.

Have a great season.
