SportPEI has organized an event for young athletes aged 12-18 to learn more about what goes into becoming a high-performance athlete. The event is called “Made in PEI” and will feature athletes and experts from the province in a variety of sports. These presenters will share their journey and touch on topics including leadership, dealing with anxiety and pressure, the importance of rest and recovery, nutrition, balancing sports with school, and others.

The event is scheduled for Thursday, July 30th, at 40 Enman Crescent in Charlottetown, 6:30 to 8:30 PM.

Athletes and experts scheduled to present include:
  • Ava Boutilier – Goaltender for the UNH Women’s NCAA D1 Hockey Team
  • Bailey Smith – AUS Track Athlete of the Year & Registered Nurse
  • Cole MacLaren – Member of the MLB Detroit Tigers Organization
  • Kameron Kielly – Member of the AHL Iowa Wild
  • Ryan MacKinnon – Member of the ECHL Worcester Railers
  • Lauren Lenentine – World Junior Curling Champion Reserve
  • Kristen Arsenault – Silver Medalist Archery 2019 Canada Winter Games

The format for the event is small group sessions happening concurrently and lasting about 15 to 20 minutes. Following the discussion with one group, the rooms will rotate, and all groups will listen to a new presenter.

We are asking those in attendance for a $10 entrance fee with proceeds going to KidSport PEI. KidSport PEI is a not-for-profit organization that donates money to families to remove the financial barrier that places their children against the opportunity to play sports.
