CMHA Notes, 2020 AGM, Nominations (Executive, Coordinators, Awards)

Hello! After an abrupt and mostly unsatisfying end to last season, we are attempting to move forward as normally as possible as we look ahead to the 2020-2021 hockey season. Of course, things will be quite different as we Renew PEI Together, but at this point we believe that our Association's passion and love for hockey will be on full display in the fall.

Some housekeeping notes from this season:

• Managers should – safely and within provincial regulations – begin jersey and equipment collection in order for us to be able to make a smooth transition to the 2020-2021 season.
• Team financial reports should be completed and submitted to the Director of Finance, if not already done so. Parents should be provided a financial summary for the year for full transparency. Accounts should be closed and surplus funds refunded or turned in to the Association.

We have also updated the website to reflect the new division names. Check out the CMHA Team Guide to get a handle on them!

Annual General Meeting
The 2020 Charlottetown Minor Hockey Association's Annual General Meeting (AGM) has been postponed from its typical early-June time. More information regarding a meeting time/format will be released as we progress along the Renew PEI Together phases.

However, we are currently accepting nominations for the items below.

Executive Nominations
Nominations are now being accepted for the following positions on the CMHA Executive:

• Director of Fundraising and Tournaments/Communications
• Director of Team Services
• Director of Officiating
• Director of Member Services

All positions are two-year term positions. Detailed descriptions of each position can be found under the CMHA Constitution.

Division Coordinator Nominations
Nominations are being accepted for Division Coordinators for each division. This is a new position established to ensure a clear line of communication between CMHA members and coordinator to solve team, league, and division issues that may come up throughout the season. Additionally, as the majority of the Executive’s children either have graduated or are graduating from minor hockey, this position is a good way to get involved in the administration of the Association without making a huge commitment.

This position is a one-year term position.

CMHA Award Nominations
We are also accepting nominations for the following awards for the 2019-2020 season. Nominations will remain open until May 29th, 2020 at 11:59 P.M. Note that if nominations are not received in a particular category, that award may not be presented this year.

• Official of the Year
• Coach of the Year
• Manager of the Year
• Female Player of the Year
• Male Player of the Year

Hockey PEI Award Nominations
Hockey PEI is currently accepting nominations for the following awards for the 2019-2020 season:

• Volunteer of the Year
• Administrator of the Year
• Female Player of the Year
• Male Player of the Year
• Coach of the Year
• Team of the Year
• Gordie Whitlock Development Award
• Aaron Coffin Official of the Year Award

Nominations are being accepted until May 15th, 2020. Submissions are being accepted here. Hockey PEI also offers the Jim Stirling Memorial Scholarship and the Hockey PEI Scholastic Award that each honour a deserving player, official, and/or coach pursuing post secondary education. The deadline for these applications is also May 15th, 2020.
