Novice Hockey Update from Hockey PEI
2018-09-20Hockey PEI has implemented half-ice games at the Novice level for the entire 2018-2019 season.
Please note that the system does not allow divisionally targeted emails at the beginning of the year. There may be a higher volume of emails in September that do not necessarily apply to each player.

The following is a message from Hockey PEI regarding Novice hockey for the 2018-2019 season:
Hockey PEI has implemented half ice games at the Novice level for the entire 2018-2019 season. As a result there have been some questions regarding how this will affect tournaments/jamborees, roster sizes and affiliation for Novice teams. In response to inquiries regarding the Novice changes members are reminded of the following
- All tournaments/jamborees are half-ice. The half-ice model does not allow for keeping score; therefore, there will be no crossovers or finals in any tournaments/jamborees. Tournaments/jamborees will consist of 4-5 games per team over a weekend with no crossovers or finals.
- Novice AA teams must consist of 16 skaters. This will ensure all games are played 4 vs 4 in both end zones.
- Novice A teams should consist of as close to 16 skaters as possible based on numbers available in each Minor Hockey Association.
- Novice AA players are permitted to affiliate to Atom AA teams. Novice A players are permitted affiliate to Atom A teams. Teams must adhere to all the Hockey PEI affiliation rules as per Regulation 5 – Affiliation.
