2018-03-14

The Novice AA Charlottetown Abbies won the Source for Sports Novice AA Tournament.

The Charlottetown Minor Hockey Association would like to congratulate the Novice AA Charlottetown Abbies on their tournament win in Summerside. The Abbies won the Source for Sports Novice AA Tournament, held in Summerside March 9th-11th, 2018.

This is the team's fourth tournament win of the year, adding to championships in the Early Bird, Pownal, and Spud tournaments. They were undefeated (22-0) in tournament play this year.

In an exemplary team effort, the Abbies rode five wins to the final. Game stars (in order of games played) were Megan Mossey, Lucas Matheson, Ashton Bradley, Mason McMurrer, and Nate Silvaggio.

The championship final was an overtime nail-biter against host Summerside, the only team to have beaten Charlottetown all year, including regular season play. The two teams battled to a 1-1 tie at the end of regulation. The championship was ultimately claimed by a goal from Megan Mossey during 3-on-3 overtime play.

Mason McMurrer and Nate Silvaggio were named Tournament All-Stars, while Megan Mossey was named Tournament MVP.
