Peewee A Abbies Top Morell Jamboree

The Peewee A Abbies are champions of the Morell Jamboree held last weekend.
The Charlottetown Minor Hockey Association would like to congratulate the Peewee A Charlottetown Abbies. They were victorious in the Morell Jamboree, held March 11th, 2018. The team overcame some adversity over the season, so this win is a meaningful season topper.
The Abbies played the host Morell Mustangs in their first game, winning 6-1. Jacob Henderson earned his first win as a goalie in this game.
Immediately following this game, the Abbies took the ice for their second game against Pownal Team 2. Three previous meetings between these two teams resulted in Pownal wins. The Abbies ultimately lost this game 7-1.
After a short break, the Abbies once again played Morell, this time in the crossover game. In an exceptional team effort, the Abbies were victorious by a score of 5-1.
In the jamboree final, it was the Charlottetown Abbies versus Pownal Team 2. This was Charlottetown's fourth game of the day (and only Pownal's third), and the Abbies were yet to defeat Pownal all year. In a thrilling final involving a 3-2 Abbies lead at the beginning of the third period, two Pownal goals by 4:18 of the third period, an equalizing goal at 3:29, and the game-winner scored by Gram Hemphill at 2:06, Charlottetown was victorious.
In a statement from the coaches, it was said that they "could make a case for every single player to have earned the MVP on this day". It was truly a team effort.
The Peewee A Charlottetown Abbies team is composed of Ethan Alexander, Juan Pablo Cifuentes, Nolan Cooper, George Dow, Kelen Gillis, Gram Hemphill, Jacob Henderson, Adam Jay, Liam MacDonald-Roper, Noah MacKinnon, Cameron Matheson, Cohen Munn, Jacob Perry, and Braeden Tompkins. The team is coached by Craig Cooper, Mark Hemphill, Bobby Jay, and Dave Tompkins.
