Former NHL Goalie and Memorial Cup champion joins CMHA Development
2015-09-23Cory Micalef will be leading our goaltender development camps and assessing goaltenders during game action this season.
The CMHA is very happy to announce that Cory Micalef has joined CMHA’s Goaltending Development program for the 2015/16 season.
In 1981, Mr. Micalef was the most valuable player of the Memorial Cup championship game while playing for QMJHL’s Cornwall Royals, which featured teammates Dale Hawerchuk and Doug Gilmour.
Mr. Micalef then went on to play for five seasons in the NHL with the Detroit Red Wings and following his professional player career, he was an assistant coach with the PEI Rocket for 7 years.
Currently, Cory lives in Charlottetown and works for the Quebec Junior Major Hockey League’s Central Scouting as a NB/PEI Scout.
Throughout the coming season, Cory will be hosting several development sessions on Sunday mornings at Simmons as well as, assessing goaltenders during game action .
