Fundraising Opportunity for All Teams
2018-11-27There are two ways associated with the Spud Tournament for your team to raise money.
January 31st to February 3rd, 2019 will mark the 44th Annual Charlottetown Minor Hockey Association Spud Minor Hockey Tournament. This yearly tournament is CMHA's major fundraiser each year, and all funds raised contribute to every team in the association.
This year, the Spud Tournament will be operating an electronic 50/50 system. There will be a draw for prizes on Friday and Saturday, with the grand pot being drawn on Sunday afternoon. The Spud Committee is offering two fundraising opportunities for all teams within CMHA through our digital 50/50 system.
Pre-Sale Fundraiser
To help the tournament's on-site sales, the committee is hoping to raise the pot going into the event and give Charlottetown Minor Hockey teams the opportunity to fundraise for their team. Teams may purchase a minimum of $1,000 worth of $10 50/50 tickets for $500. Based on a minimum purchase of $1,000, $500 immediately goes into the grand prize pot. Your team can then sell each ticket at face value and keep the proceeds, earning your team $500 for each $1,000 block of tickets purchased.
On-Site Fundraiser (January 31st to February 3rd)
The second way for your team to be involved and raise funds is to staff the 50/50 booth during the tournament. Your team would be responsible for staffing the booth, starting Thursday evening, and ending Sunday afternoon. The 50/50 booth will be set up at the Bell Aliant Centre; however, you will also have the ability to sell at other rinks with portable sales units. In exchange, your team receives 25% of the money raised on your terminal over the weekend. The more tickets you sell over the weekend, the more money your team can make. Multiple teams may split this responsibility and the money if so desired.
If you and your team are interested in purchasing a pre-sale package or signing up for the on-site portion, please email Dean Lund, Spud 50/50 Chair, by December 7th, 2018, at deanlund@gmail.com.
